Sanity check/AITA. Is it normal to expect someone to have liked at least one of my reviews before sending me a friend request? In the two months I felt swamped, I got 27 friend requests. Less than six had ever liked a review of mine. Are my expectations simply too high? Should I accept all these people as friends? Why or why not?!? (spoiler: I already chose, but I want to check my thought process)

Hirondelle (not getting notifications) Liked or commented, or something. No, it is not too picky. I actually have a challenge question, and half the requests say nothing, ignore the question..

But keep in mind some people are trying to build follow lists. There is a guy in Russia who is always at 4990 friends who must have sent me already 4 friends requests, he friends, then deletes and tries again and unfriended people stay as followers probably without realizing it... And there are a few more.

Jeanny I’d assume they’d be an active participant & some activity between within my reviews. A like or a comment even if it’s not between myself & them something that shows interest & and interaction. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Izzie (semi-hiatus) McFussy My natural default is “wary.” I check if we like the same books and have a mutual friend that might have been the conduit to finding my reviews.

Dave Stone my thing is, if they have more friends than books, then nope

Okay, that's new information. I hate feeling like just a target for manipulation so that steams me more than a little. Ugh.

Right? So you're saying I'm not alone in that feeling. 😅

This makes sense. I have a whole process I go through, now, and that's at least part of it.

Yup. That's one of my red flags, too!

Ana Santos I would just ignore those requests.

Deborah I would ignore them too.

I think it goes into the “red flag” hopper. Like I don’t have automatic disqualifiers, but it needs a strong counter if the flags start flying.
