Stranger Crossings. 4. Entertaining blend of Welsh folklore, mythology and the Cthulhu Mythos. Dark enough if a bit rushed. Really like the inclusion of the Mari Lwyd. 31.5:9

Periphery. 3.5 decent enough story with typical inter dimensional beings, the familiar “state into the abyss and it stares into you” scenario. 27.5:8

Un-Du-Miluhk Would. 5. Oh that was good! Shameless riff on Dylan Thomas with the wryly humorous concept of the Gas-God embedded in the coal seam awaiting his release where I imagine his long-anticipated sexual antics with the Wind Goddess would wreak untold havoc, only to be thwarted by closure of the pit. Masterful! 24:7

Necronomicon. 2. Nothing wrong with the telling, but doesn’t really go anywhere and feels pedestrian, apart from a little dry wit. 19:6

Song of Summoning. 3.decent but generally routine HPL pastiche. 17:5

Cawl of Cthulhu. 2. Fairly standard Mythos type story. Not much substance. 10:3

Bicycle-Centaur. 4. A wild touch of levity so early in the collection. Surreal, Milliganesque wordplay with a dash of Under Milk Wood. Grotesquerie with a science fictional post apocalyptic feel. Possibly trivial but an entertaining read. 8:2

What Others Hear. 4. Solid enough story and a compelling idea, all enticingly written to give a decent start to the book.
