I was drawn in by potential Detroit music scene nostalgia, but I got none of that. I am older than the author so different scenes and though were both in the D his life in Dearborn and mine in Southfield/Bloomfield Hills would not overlap. Instead, I am drawn to the creative energy and outlets, the impacts of mental illness and addiction on a family, and these fully and lovingly drawn people. This is great writing.
