3rd part of my rant:
Now, someone could die of carbon dioxide gas by suffocation as the gas displaces the air in an enclosed space but not nearly as readily as by carbon monoxide. This erroneous science on Dr. Fell's part might ruin the whole book for me...

Continuing my rant:
And when it sublimes, it doesn't release "one of the deadliest and quick-acting gases there is" (which would be fluorine gas). It releases carbon dioxide, which in a very moist atmosphere will react with the water to form small amounts of carbonic acid, a weak acid that is fairly harmless.

I interrupt my reading to mark my extreme annoyance at Carr's (to me inexcusable) errors in scientific facts here!!! Dry ice is NOT "nothing more or less liquefied gas", it is a SOLID! And it doesn't melt, that's why it is called DRY ice - it sublimes or you could say (less accurately) evaporates.
