This has become a wall-banger. No explanation for anything, no justification for Hannah doing anything she's done so far. I had to read reviews of the book, for crying out loud, to make any sense of what's going on. Sheriff doesn't order autopsy for "accidental" death? Not likely. Sheriff notifies widow then just leaves? How'd she know who to notify? Vegan buys a cattle ranch? AYFKM?

Made it to 18% but this is baaad. This Hannah person is dumb as a post. Out of touch with anything resembling reality. And therefore it seems the author is, too. Alone, middle of nowhere, no phone, no vehicle, and all she can think about is unpacking her art supplies. Not how she's gonna pay her bills, how she's gonna get into town, nothing. I hate stupid characters. DNF.

Breathe. You're. Mistakes that shouldn't be there. So the guy is dead, but how did Jane know to contact Hannah? And then not get any info from her before just leaving? Wtf?

None of this makes sense. I've read the first three chapters and have no idea what's going on. Reread it all to make sure I hadn't missed something. I have a feeling I'm going to end up throwing this one against the virtual wall.
