I wait for my heart to finish breaking before I breathe again. It is a terrible thing to be left behind by your mother. It leaves a hole soul-deep to know she walked away, and you can’t help but wonder, again and again, if it’s because of something you did or something you are that made her set you aside. I can’t hug her.
