I've been reading lots and not updating here but this one prompts me to say I see why Rendell put her Barbara Vine alias on this one. Rendell is sharp and pithy. "Vine" kept me hooked but about halfway through I started getting impatient for the characters to quit their redundant rambling. Rendell would have been much more economical. I want back half the time I gave this book!
