She began writing her first book, "My Life with the Walter Boys," when she was only fifteen and posted it on a site called Wattpad. She attracted many fans on Wattpad so in 2013, when Wattpad formed a partnership with the publishing company, Sourcebooks, she was offered the chance to publish her story. She worked hard to edit the story and it finally got published.

Ali Novak, the author of, "My Life with the Walter Boys," was born in Wisconsin on Memorial Day. She has two younger siblings, Jackie and Peyton. Her interest in books began when she was in grade school, when her mother introduced her to the Nancy Drew series. She was inspired to write her own stories and soon found herself jotting down notes for story ideas when she was supposed to be paying attention in class.
