KJV is my own favorite version but, if you have the time/interest, Robert Alter's translation of the entire Old Testament is magisterial (especially his translations of the Pentateuch and 1-2 Samuel). He really draws out the Bible's literary qualities, and his excellent footnotes opened the more obscure passages to me for the first time.

Oh thanks, a part of my interest in reading the bible is its literary qualities so ill definitely keep that in mind! I also want to look at the new oxford annotated bible
