I had the pleasure of attending some of the lectures on which this book is based.

Nice! :) I wish I could have met or had a teaching from Geshe Sopa, he seemed like a very gentle and intelligent man.
I am looking forward to getting his volume on shamata which James Blumenthal contributed to (who, sadly passed away just over a year ago).

Well, yeah, he was extremely intelligent, though he had a lot of trouble adapting to a Western audience, and I'm not altogether sure he tried very hard. It made him easier to relate to as a geshe teaching at Deer Park than a professor at U.W., Madison.

You had him for a teacher at both places?

I was a student at UW Madison and know some of his doctoral students.
