The book Missing Person takes place in many different settings. The time period is in postwar Paris taken place in the early 1900s. Roland comes across many different settings as he searches for clues to his identity.

With the unknown character names, a women whom had lost her identity finds herself in a Paris restraunt. Through her actions taken place at the restraunt shows us her ignorance of her identity. Thus creating a wall of lenient decisions she allows herself to make. Without her rememberence of her past, we can infer that she was missing for a long period of time.
