I struggled through the first 200 pages because I couldn’t understand the motivation behind what was happening. Dekker pulls back the curtain halfway through the book. Now I feel engaged with the storyline.

I am having a difficult time reading this book. I can only handle a few pages at a time. I find myself repulsed by the evil but also wondering if all the character will succumb to evil. What is Dekker saying about human nature?
