Author tries to build tension, then the resolution seems to quick and simplistic e.g. her stress about being discovered as a girl on bath day goes for a page, then she conveniently falls in to the bath fully clothed and gers banned from bath day thereafter.

Struggling to suspend disbelief here. She's 17, menstruating, and no one has managed to figure her out (except her bedfellow novice - and that revelation was done without any sort of tension whatsoever). And the incident with getting rid of prefect Fang when he chased her through the monastery and she hit him over the head was ridiculous and farcical.
