He's not the only culprit in this era, but I hate how Carr writes his romantic heroines. If they're not pretty airheads who "gurgle" (ew) incessantly, they're bluestocking shrews whom the romantic hero needs to break into being the gurgly airhead, what Carr thinks is "feminine" or "womanly". It's in every damn book. Ugh.
