I softly DNFd this book over a year ago. Not because it is a bad book, far FAR from that. But because I love Outlander and was, at that point, slightly burned out on the series. Well, post-Tad Williams Osten Ard series and deep into John Jakes Kent Chronicles, i needed something familiar and epic. I am happy to say I am so in love with this book! Perfect timing.

Oof I had missed this! Needed a break though.

This is such an absorbing book. Feels slower than previous volumes, with plenty of time to soak in the details of the new setting and get a feel and understanding of the time they live in.

Outstanding.

This book tackles difficult historical subject matters very boldly.

I feel sickened by what I read, I feel Diana Gabaldon is doing a very good job, but I can't say this would be very entertaining for many.
