Only just been named Tristram rather than Trismagistus. Stories about noses, and laments over names (maybe) completed.

Guff. Some kind of parody of any long winded book? Is the author was paid by the page & made the fullest use of this?
At 'Volume 2' and so far:
- Tristram still hasn't been born.
- 3 suggestions to abandon/throw the book away
- Many digressions, and even a section *addressing* digression ('and I will go on 40 years!')

If Anton Lesser weren't reading it, I don't know how anyone would humour this.
