Overall I liked it. The plot starts off slow but picks up toward the middle. Though likely due to my lack of exposure to South Asian culture, the frequent use of Bengal/Hindu vocab was distracting at times. I enjoyed meeting many of the characters, and I felt a particular affinity for Nirmal, the impractical poet, teacher, dreamer, revolutionary. I was also struck by the green-on-green conflict: EJ vs. conservation.
