Having a lot of trouble getting through this one. It's both a history of animation and it's roots in minstrelry, but also a deep, literature-style reading of individual cartoons of the era. Obviously it makes sense to approach it like this as you want to see how the themes and ideas in the art form develop over the years, but unfortunately that also makes it a bit of a slog.
