Characterization: The author shows Mac's character through what he says. Mac was visiting his abusive dad that is now in jail and he said, "I'm not here to kill the guy. This is just going to be a friendly family get together."
This is how the author shows that Mac likes to sarcasm because he is actually really mad at his father for abusing him as a child and now want to get payback because he is stronger now.

Point of View: The point of view of Brawler is first person narrator because the story is being told through Mac. Mac is telling the reader about his past and all of his fights are told through his eyes. The reader learns about Mac's feelings and emotions too.
