I think the theme of this book is probably something like everyone has their own opinions or women empowerment or idk sexism is bad.

No one really changes, I mean I guess Barbie changed the toy industry and Ruth Handler changed the world with her ideas. Ruth had to "overcome" people who didn't like barbie and tried to shut her down.

No real challenges in the book, it's mostly just talking about how the most "tortured" childrens toy is Barbie and that it's really common for kids to destroy them after they've played with them. No actual challenge or consequence.

The company Mattel suffers backlash because some people think owning a barbie will warp kids minds and want to look exactly like barbie and will give them body dysmorphia or anorexia.

James wrote: "What are their opinions?"A lot of people look at Barbie as an icon of Women's rights or a role model for little girls to believe they can do/be/accomplish anything.
But some people view Barbie as a inappropriate role model no matter how many different jobs she's always too sexualized.
Enthusiastic wrote: "So what are YOUR opinions about Barbie as a toy?"I don't really have an opinion on Barbie, I didn't play with her a lot as a kid. I don't see her as a bad thing that should be looked at as a perfect, white, blonde, party girl that shows only what "society" thinks the "perfect" women should be. But I really think she's just a toy and people making such a big fuss about it in a bad way get on my nerves.
