also the food critic is such a bitch. describes the risotto as slightly runny but then rips the restaurant a new one by going off calling it soggy and that one would need a straw - sister where is your integrity

the book almost managed to gaslight me into thinking marigold is so rude and that she has no reason to hate critic just because her sister who was wronged by critic forgave her - and critic calling marigold aggressive after a minor interaction where they didnt even really talk. afterwards marigold really became standoffish and i was like… girl… stop… but she actually deservres it!

also i feel like the critic is a creep why would she return to the village ?? there are so many places to go into hiding and u choose the village where it all unraveled? i feel like shes absolutely playing the victim
