She (Royall) shouted insults at the Sunday school teachers as they passed her windows in the way to the church, frightening some of them to the extent that one newspaper noted, ‘Some of the young ladies were actually afraid to pass. Nor could they come within hearing, without having themselves outraged by language, to which no delicate female could listen’”
Yeah I definitely love her

Trying to get this straight. She was brash, offensive, never took no for an answer, and didn’t care what men thought about her. Yet she also supported slavery, and thought Native Americans deserved to have their land taken from them(while also lamenting their forced migration). Oh, also relentlessly crusaded against evangelicals who she thought were destroying America. What I am supposed to do with her?

Royall as described by a male reporter of the time:
“She is no woman at all but a stout, saucy, swaggering, two fisted chap, with a skull of his own, who having a mind to live an easy life and be impudent with safety, has turned author, and equipped himself in petticoats for protection."
Somebody loved them some alliteration!
I can only hope someone would describe me as stout, swaggering and saucy as well. :)
