Explaining things without scaring Jonathan was impossible. He’d rather tell him where babies came from. No. He shuddered at the thought. That was just as terrifying.

Staring at her, he saw the woman he’d fantasized about for years, and the strong woman she’d turned into. He wanted to give her so much it scared the hell out of him. Something he’d never admit aloud.

He held up the knife and twisted it slowly in his hand. The metal gleamed wickedly in the light, illuminating his expression. The dark flash of lust in his eyes made her want to vomit. He is enjoying this.

No one had ever gotten him worked up like her. She was so petite and almost delicate-looking, but he knew better. The woman could take care of herself. Not that it did anything to subdue his protective urge when it came to her.
