Sam and Jude are becoming more and more the same person to me. Sam’s episodes of phantom limb pain, his weight loss, his retreat. I don’t know how I feel about Marx’ and Sadie’s relationship.

I’ve wondered which one came first: a little life or this one and who came up with the character of Sam/Jude first. Somehow it would make sense for Hanya to take Sam, who’s foot is damaged, who’s mother died tragically and who was betrayed by his friend and turn in into an even more damaged, abused character. But I like the book. I hate Dov though he sucks. But it’s meant to be like this.
