The last few chapters, I think, were written as an update in the '70s. They are a bit weak. There's too much speculation (and, frankly, optimism) that seems foolish in retrospect. Perhaps I'd think differently in more peaceful times.

I was wrong. *Now* I'm finished with the original text. These last few chapters have been very interesting. They are less history and more commentary. I'm not sure if that says something about me or his writing, but it's interesting to see opinions (rather astute ones, at that) about events from a century ago written by a contemporary.
