OKAY i finished the book now and it was like omg baldwin is a genius. i think it's honestly the french that took me out of it (BECAUSE I LITERALLY HAD NO IDEA WHAT HALF THE FRENCH DIALOGUE WAS????). i also had this deep hatred and understanding for the main character, but mostly hatred, because like I GOT SO MAD AT HIM, which def made me less attached to his decisions, thoughts, etc. but like the writing and quotes from the book r amazing !!
