While I was reading this week's section when I found myself asking a question. The author, Tara, was injured after a car accident. As Tara is lying in bed recovering her brother hires a chiropractor who "jerks [her] head with a swift, savage motion" (Westover 96). This event made me wonder if her parents, who are against modern medicine, ever figured out why she randomly recovered.

In this section of the reading, Tara went on a visit to Rome with her classmates. As she was in Rome, "[she] experienced Rome as [the others] did: as a place of history" and "life" (268). While Tara was on this trip, she was beginning to fit in more with the "outsiders" as her dad would say. She later explained how she was able to connect with the past easier than the rest of the world, and so I wonder why this is.
