One of the characteristics of Dyer’s books is his tendency to digress continually across a range of topics and often to illuminate subjects by linking with others. Often this sparks in me an interest in something totally new. I’d never heard of Glavinic before, for example…..

I’m about half way through this collection of Dyer’s essays on photography. Previously I’ve read 14 other books by the same author, on many varying topics, this being the second one on photography. In fact there are currently only 4 of his books that I haven’t read, which places him in my top ten authors.

Found this paperback in local bookshop yesterday. Can’t believe I’m about to read a 330 page book about photography. I mean I don’t even particulars like photography - I prefer painting, music, literature, even cinema, all of which Dyer has written about. But since it’s by Dyer, it’s not important. He can make anything seem interesting.
