It takes me a while I’ve discovered to realise if I truly like a book. I like this one a lot. The relationships between characters are a lot more realistic and relatable than the characters themselves, however I really like how the characters have been portrayed. Reading about normal, genuine, deep love breaks my heart.

Okay update: I am getting to grips with Sally Rooney’s writing style again, which I can only describe as academically witty. I do really like the book but it’s another one of those that I feel tries to be relatable and ends up being the complete opposite, by having hugely priveleged characters who claim they are “normal”. Maybe that’s the point? Maybe I’m missing something? We’ll see.

My toxic trait is starting new books when I have 1029473 already on the go… anyway I think I like this so far! Hate the lack of speech marks because of my slightly dysfunctional brain but I’m hoping I can get back into a reading obsession!
