It was an exciting chapter I think it was pretty funny when Charlie Cornsilk at Challigi Indian boarding school dreamed of a witch eating his liver and then died because he dreamed of a witch. And Pop was talking a lot about the ethical code. My mouth was watering the entire time they were making a mulligan stew. It was also surprising when they heard gunshots at the end of the chapter.

I thought how at the start of the chapter it was pretty cool how Cal started finding himself saying stuff like on page 17 "Us Creeks" signifying he began to feel like he was fitting in as a Native American. I thought it was cool how on the top of page 214 the answer to one of the questions on the quiz question of what boarding schools were supposed to do was "kill the Indian save the man."

Possum brings Cal to a secret area with a hidden compartment in a tree with a bunch of valuable items, including some beef jerky with a bit of brown sugar. Possum also showed Cal a Winchester model 51 imperial, single shots .22, made in 1919 on page 173. Overall I think the boys enjoyed it so much because it was their first time meeting and they were having a lot of fun.

This was an interesting chapter Pop and Cal are at Challagi and the superintendent Morrel recognises Pop and says hello. I thought it was cool when Pop told Cal about how many marriages came out of Challagi. I also think Cal is very confused because Pop is leaving he's going back to school and he's learning about his heritage and being part Creek Indian.

It was an exciting chapter, I was shocked when the sheriff came and lit a house on fire when he was looking for Pop and Cal, and had some respect when he learned that they weren't black but Indian and heading to Challigi. It was also nerve-racking when the sheriff almost shot Cap but didn't after Pop showed himself and his Veteran Certificate.

Chapter six starts with Cal comparing Pop to a stereotypical Indian and then hopping off the train and meeting Corporal Esom Dart, a black war vet, and Cap, the mayor of the hobo jungle. I thought it was an interesting chapter about how some doctors gave hobos medical check-ups free of charge and the opposite of how a white hobo would go to jail and get beaten up with a few bruises and black people would likely die.

It was very shocking when we learned that Pop is part Native American specifically Creek Page 67. It was also shocking when page 65 Pop says that there was a one-million-dollar reward for a dead Native American which is now a lot of money but back then according to in2013dollars.com
was equivalent to $18,582,395.21 in today's U.S. money.

I was surprised when Pop had to go to Washington D.C. for a protest to have war veterans be able to take out loans against compensation certificates on pages 56 and 57. it was also very surprising when on page 60 Cal learns he is part Native American. it was also very interesting when we learned on page 45 that Cal used to be a sprinter.

Pop and Cal found a bullsnake, which was cool since they weren't afraid of it. Pop and Cal also met a widow named Ms. Euler who knew Pop through her dead war veteran husband, Sam. Ms. Euler let Pop and Cal stay with her and I was surprised when they met her because they didn't see her face and she pointed a Mauser gun at them.

I thought it was interesting how Cal went to school and liked to read. I was surprised when Red Campbel came out of nowhere and seemed not the kindest person but then offered to give them a place to eat including a big slab of cornbread for Cal. It was also cool how Pop and Red are both war vets and how Cal started to talk a little on pg. 15.
