ah... movie got Monsters from the Id Wrong... the Tiger is explained... the Krell/Morbius are evil trying to Create Life from just mind... yes the book does go into monsters from the id... but the Doc blames the Krell and Morbius for usurping the dominion of God; creation of life... and BTW, Tolkien makes the same assignment of blame on Suranon and Mordor etc... as they created their own imperfect immortals.

anyone else wondering why the Bosun is never named... no 1st or last and no information and a lot of robotic actions... I suspected I'd missed the description but it was given as a veteran with age xyz. this didn't make a lot of sense to me. is this author using standard mechanisms of narration and story telling. I've read many styles, some more awkward, but none seemed as weird.

So about, who's narrating the book... it's not Ismael.. the author Changes perspective by altering who's narrating a particular thought. Ordinarily I've seen this only when an author carves out a thought balloon... they specifically tell the reader this author is thinking this thought... So, perhaps I just need to read more to see this kind of character narrative (to the reader).

I noticed the narrator of the book is Now the captain (ship commander). That's apparently an easy trick of a book author as I didn't notice the exact transition.

BTW, I hope the book explains about Altair's tiger friend (which later in the book doesn't "recognize her")... what is the benevolent animal relationship about And why doesn't it always work.

the crew leaders met Altair... Morbius' daughter and I think the book description of the meeting and the lunch with him was well written and well depicted in the film... I recall thinking how fast this movie moved and we're 1/3 through the book ... it always surprises me how quickly a story can progress with a good author. Also, how much time is spent in seemingly small parts of a movie.

the book has a much more elaborate description of the voyage and arrival of the ship on Altair 4... and the narration and description in the book come from the ships doctor (who we see in the movie but isn't central).

forget whether movie mentions Parvati (shiva's wife) Theory allowing FTL space travel (I know they have a warp drive).

there's some seriously bad acting in this movie...Capt. Kirk Would Be Proud. :rofl.

the beast... the mindless primitives... monsters from the ID! yes, the Krill built a machine to materialize thought and they were destroyed by their own Monsters from their Id.
