Delightful quote, isn’t it Michael?- I loved this tender little book to bits. I am trying to wait for the paperback of his most recent book (or the library purchasing a copy), but probably will succumb before that to La danseuse…

It is a lovely little book, Ilse — and it stands a little apart inside Modiano’s work. The world Catherine lives inside, and the characters who people it, are immediately recognizable as the author’s, while Catherine is a unique and lovely creation, who stands out in this particular book. The illustrations are wonderful too… I wonder how much Siempre brought to the story?

I can’t believe you are still able to hold back on taking the plunge on “La danseuae”… As soon as they publish it in English, I will pick it up.
