OK, I *think* we've shifted from a "establish ten dozen mysteries" phase to a "run around excitedly" phase, and that's working less well for me.
"I am a lawyer who needs to commit international diplomacy in Cyprus WITHIN THE NEXT TWO HOURS" is both over-the-top and also just feels like wrenching us away from the story.
But there's been great stuff so far; hopefully we'll be back on solid ground soon enough.

Unfortunately, this drifted from "really exciting and intriguing" into a solid, generic, but unexceptional book.

This is rapid-fire suspense. The story just keeps tossing more and more balls into the air, very very quickly, and it works marvelously well. SO VERY MANY OPEN THREADS.
