Thanks Marita for all your fine reviews, lovely comments and the debatable prowess to make me add books to my wishlist as if they were going out of fashion.
:O)

Wanda And did the New Year arrive quietly? We live in a secluded area too. Tonight it is quieter than usual.

No - they gathered out onto the meadow to our north and let off fireworks for hours, Ms K9 has been in distress but it's better now they have fucked off gone away, thanks for asking.

What are you doing to celebrate my lovely lady? Are you alone? Are you listening to some rousing chorals? Is WW in da house?

Bettie In Erik Johansson's image Expecting Winter, a woman is photographed sewing together blankets of snow.

I love this!

I am doing laundry to ring in the New Year. How is that for exciting? I came home with a migraine so I took a cool shower and stretched out on the settee. Listening to the dryer soothed the beast in my head.

WW is in his room watching something on Netflix. Ancient Aliens maybe? Or Sunny in Philadelphia?

I love the Expecting Winter painting. Gosh, that is lovely. But, wait ... that is a photo not a painting; right. How absolutely cool. That needle is out-of-this world big.

Bettie That needle would have done Jon Snow a major favour dontcha fink? Wonder how the story would have been if he had survived. Laundry waits for man nor beast; sorry to hear about your pur wee heid but I do know how a drier soothes.

We watched Jools Holland's Hootenanny and his guests and there were two newtome ladies - one called Beth Hart, a raw blues singer who performed with Jeff Beck, and a fantastic woman called Rhiannon Giddens.

Another newtome was a guy from the Wicklow mountains called Hozier

Added to this mix was the eternal Tom Jones - what a great show.

And, Poor Miss K9. Let's stick firecrackers to their jackets and send those people to the moon.

But, Jon Snow is coming back. I will watch the first one to see if he is in fact revived or zombified.

Oh, Bettie. I like Beth Hart. But, that Rhiannon won my heart. I could listen to her all day long. And she plays banjo, too! What a voice. Mr Hozier is a good one, too.

I still remember watching Tom Jones on tv with my Mom. What fun!

Sylvester (Taking a break in 2023) Happy 2016, Bettie!

Jon Snow??

No!!

Was his return in the books? I never got around to this far. You watch and I'll get the potted history, that seems fair LOL

Sylvester (Taking a break in 2023) My closest guess would be Russian. But wouldn't that be in Cyrillic? I'm at a loss, at least the penguins are cute in every language!!

I popped it into google translate and it seems that the language could be slovakian but the phrase doesn't translate - the Zodom could be 'zoodom' = animals?

But you are right, penguins are fun in any language
