I’m reading the top ten list of her stories, as said to me the other night over drinks from a few friends, really it winds up being thirteen out of the thirty-one in this collected, as a few of the stories overlap. I’m writing an essay about all of this, for those same friends, not for a review or anything I don’t believe

Zach, that book imho is off the charts amazing, and the stories are endlessly re-readable. I’m so glad I read The Old and New Testament for the first time a couple years ago (my beach read of 2022 hahah), understanding what she is doing with Catholicism, the Baptists, and other faiths helped a lot with being able to find out what she could have meant in the sometimes rather beguiling stories.
and of course a good majority of the stories are designed to be read a few ways depending on if you’re of deep faith or an atheist or even just a casual person on this casual earth. Anyways, I love this stuff. If I was religious I’d be bugging the hell out of the priest or preacher or whoever to talk out these stories … the same way I’ll bug English professors to talk out these stories
