Jayson
Jayson is on page 142 of 147

Notes:
(1) Well, this went out on a high note; it's the opposite of "King of Spies." Of the two, I'd give this series the slight edge.
- Whereas that was ugly but heavy, this one's glossy but insubstantial.
(2) I thought it was clear at the start but the back matter's got me confused about whether this is a future where the '80s are super-popular or an '80s-themed universe.

Jayson’s Previous Updates

Jayson
Jayson is on page 106 of 147

Notes:
(1) There's clever stuff here, don't get me wrong, but it's nothing more than parlor tricks.
- Even though the protagonists get into sticky situations, they get out of them way too easy. It's like playing video games with cheat codes.
- We're given no reason to care about anybody.
(2) If the "Saga" mimicry wasn't obvious enough, the anything-goes sex resort seals it.

Jayson is on page 55 of 147

Notes:
(1) Apparently, 600 years from now, '80s pop culture makes a major comeback!
(2) It's patently obvious this is Millar's version of "Saga." Though, only superficially. It's shockingly lightweight.
- There's no protagonist backstory or any time spent fleshing out personalities.
(3) This is essentially the same story as "King of Spies," just one big assassination spree.

Notes:
(1) I finished "King of Spies" earlier today, and the way it finished left a real bad taste in my mouth. Great art and some cool elements, but just really cynical and ugly, not to mention low-effort.
- This is another Millar/Scalera collaboration, a total 180 in terms of concept, but hopefully this will leave me with a better impression of their creative partnership.
