“They looked dazed and sunburned and happy, the way you should look when you’ve just spent a day at Disneyland. Parents carried sleeping children or, alternately, tried to wrangle children who’d clearly had far too much sugar. People were laughing and talking, looking through their pictures, and everyone was laden with souvenirs.”
