It’s a little too slow burn for my taste, and Thea is already triggering me even if she’s barely made an appearance. Jacopo’s chain smoking is also making me feel very uncomfortable, having personally known innocent victims killed by second-hand-smoke cancer. If still no romance happens in the next 2-3 chapters, I might just drop this. It’s getting dull.

The overused cliché of getting interrupted whenever something is about to happen is getting old so fast here since the author doesn’t care if it’s so obvious that she’s just bait switching over and over to keep prolonging the plot. The thing is it isn’t even organic anymore, it’s painfully contrived. Not feeling this tired ploy is worth putting up for. You can only stretch something so far until it becomes flat.
