Also, he's referencing a lot of potential future conditions as Kvothe is telling his story, like his gut feeling of a harsh winter ahead. That plus his tendency to pay things off in Kvothe's backstory leads me to think it's legitimate foreshadowing instead of teasing.

I legitimately wonder if Rothfuss is taking so long because he's plotting out the overall story of The Kingkiller Chronicles. To be clear, this is only after reading a very small amount of book 2, but already this world seems a little too big to explore in what I assume is going to be a trilogy (speaking in faith). With the amount of detail, he tends to add behind-the-scenes, that would not surprise me at all.
