I'm once again here to complain about the pacing of this series. This book is set up to have so many fun interweaving issues but it feels like one comes up and it's immediately handled. New mages in town? We're perfectly rational, we can be a background issue! Hunters in town? We can talk it out and be more of a help than a problem! Eben kidnapped? Give him 2 days! I need just a little more tension in my plot, I beg.

I know I shouldn't compare the published version to the old fiction press version, but the original book has been my favorite example of ptsd and recovery from trauma ever. I'm devastated that it's gone, but that's not the published versions' fault, so I'll just hide that in my update feed. I'm begging the publisher, please give her more pages. She writes such beautiful work when you're not limiting her.
