can never predict what this book is gonna say next. first it’s a threatening sermon, then it’s a blood ritual, then a greek myth, then sermon again

“no longer can the hero rest in innocence with the goddess of the flesh; for she has become the queen of sin” okay now it’s the woman’s fault.. also this chapter got so freudian 😆

must not have been super into this chapter i stopped without reading these last four pages

i wonder how many dreams have a deeper meaning vs. random shit the brain made up

that chapter was more about sacrifices and blood than i was expecting

it’s nice that this book has pictures of old art and isn’t just endless walls of text

ooh he made me wanna read arabian nights… but on another note, idk if sleeping beauty or apollo and daphne are good examples of “refusing the call.” they both just feel like a woman’s tragedy, and i don’t agree with his conclusion (if i understand it)
