So far I am really struggling with the MMC. He's an emotionally abusive bully to the FMC and I don't really care about his intentions or secret attraction because when you treat someone that way for so many years, it doesn't just magically erase their lived experience because you were "trying to protect her from assholes". You were an asshole and she needed protecting from you.
