Critical reading. I'm curious to see how much the troubled origins of system's theory alters my perception of its potential for emancipation. I write about its upending of prior forms of technocracy (linear, mechanistic, rationalistic) in my thesis, as seen in New Wave sf and in frameworks that emphasise the mutability of systems (Chaosmosis). To reword as analogy: where does Adam Smith end and Karl Marx begin? Etc.

Resilience is vital for thinking through ecological collapse, but also political burnout. It's a fantastic framework for understanding the persistence of capital in the face of collapse. A fiscal stimulus to bail out bankrupt corporations combined with economic scarcity and the cutting of social services is a clear indication of a system in crisis, due to its own internal contradictions.
Geoghegan argues that cybernetics arose out of colonies, asylums, and camps. However, I wonder if such foundations permit us to understand them better under their own logics of control?
