Just a note: My health has taken a bit of a turn and it is uncertain how much longer I can devote time and energy to GoodReads. I have enjoyed the relationships and camaraderie that I have found here. After a horrible experience on FB, you guys have restored my faith in humanity. Thank you for every review, every comment, and even every criticism. Keep reading -Kevin

Greg Wishing you all the best, hope you're just experiencing a short hiatus!

Kevin Thank you Greg. If only.

message 3: by Richard (new)

Richard You were the first person to send me a friend request on Goodreads and I am so glad that you did!
To better days...

Kevin Richard, and YOU bought me a beer at FFrF in Madison. I haven’t forgotten 🍻🙂 I am so sorry I won’t be in Denver. I was REALLY looking forward it.

message 5: by Casey (new)

Casey Kevin, this is quite a shock. I am losing my favorite GR friend -- you! I also have had a bad time on Facebook and rarely go there now, but GR has been relatively safe and wonderful. Sending you hugs from California!

Kevin Thank you Casey. I have always enjoyed your comments and recommendations and especially your reviews. I will hang out on the fringes here when possible but these treatments are taxing my energy level and my ability to concentrate. So many books left to read that we could talk about, eh? That may be one of my very few regrets, that we didn’t get to them all.

Yes, I hope you will hang out on the fringes. Perhaps that will kindle some energy. No pressure, just fun. You have a lot of fans here, including me, and I'm rooting for you.

Xavier Patiño I'm sorry to hear this Kevin. I hope everything is ok. If you can, stay on those fringes, your comments are always welcome!

Kevin Thanks Xavier!

Candi Kevin, I'm very sorry to hear this and you will be missed. I hope that you gain strength with the extra energy devoted to resting and healing. Wishing you the best and that your health take a turn for the better in time.

Kevin Candi, no thoughts & prayers?? lol I have had an MRI, two CT scans, two ultrasounds, two “procedures,” and one surgery. The worst was the NG tube (24 hrs!!). Chemo starts Wednesday. oh boy, can’t wait 🤨

Well, I am thinking of you, Kevin! That's a lot of shit to go through, and I can't imagine the discomfort from the NG tube :( I hope they give you lots of drugs to get through the days following chemo. Hugs!

Vic Allen When things get tough, and they will, try to remember that each passing moment is a moment closer to misery's resolution. Hoping for the very best for you, my friend.

Kevin Vic, thank you. In wildlife rehab they taught us that, in hopeless cases, euthanasia is a form of release. I am keeping that in the back of my mind. 🙂

message 15: by Beauregard (new)

Beauregard Bottomley I've enjoyed your goodreads friendship immensely. I loved your review and comments.

Kevin Thanks Gary. I’ve enjoyed yours as well. Two thoughts occurred to me today: Hitchens was the same age I am when he went out 🙂 And secondly, I might not be around for November elections 🙂 There are silver linings after all
