Well that's certainly an interesting strategy to pull an academic debate into the public void and tell 'commoners' about the blindness of pretty much the whole field of linguistic history. I'm inclined to believe McWhoerter's theory about Celtic influences on English but surely it could have been done without a detailed and passionate demonstration of how wrong all his academic colleagues are?
