“Italy in the past was a rather more complex place, but now things have been lowered to a very simple level. This is due to politics, the quality of communication, and television. In the last twenty years, the levels of depression in Italians have greatly increased. One of the reasons for this is because we are not doing deeply enough until things. We want to be light and happy and frivolous. If you refuse to adapt to this search for happiness you will be rejected by society. You will be made to feel wing because you are not like all the others and so you have to isolate yourself even more. That’s when depression seeps in, that’s why it is a growing phenomenon.”
