Decent book; interesting to read about VA programs and the creation of Serenity Park. I wish the veteran's stories were more detailed (and there relationship with the birds). Last two chapters were blegh for me; not interested in the love story of the author.

Chapter 1: intro to Sammy the parrot and the illegal bird trade. Don't love the hyperbole of Sammy's initial capture in regards to being from the bird's perspective. But decent tie-back to actual facts. No citations. 4/10.
