Dear god, Ivy is so *dumb*. She makes such poor choices that it’s actually unbelievable. The author does this thing where Ivy recognizes a problem, and then just goes ahead anyway. I think the author is trying to show that she’s stubborn, but she just comes across as dumb. For example, she thinks that her food might be spiked, but then eats anyway— and is surprised when it is spiked! Auuugh!
