Chapter 1 he interestingly describes the heroes from the Bible. He points out the amazing reality that the Bible honored the wisdom of their women - a foreign thing in antiquity.

Ch. 2:Alexander the Great trained by Aristotle. Alexander believed he was a descendant of Hercules. Sinister parents. Superb map reader. He believed he had divine power. He always marched with the men usually from the front. 10 reasons for his success. One being comradery. Shakespeare said, “We few, we happy few”. Created coinage and put in circulation. Many evil men took refuge in his story.

Fascinating to me that this secular author feels compelled to include in his category of heroes given they are historical biblical figures. But even more fascinating how he chooses to interpret them. Not that they are perfect men and women, but he is blind to the spiritual aspect of their heroism: their reliance upon God. Glad they were included though.
