Finished this book today and it was a good story.
It was overlong, I think, because of the way it was laid out. At several pivotal moments in the story, details were laid out to such an extent that it delayed the action much like a stride paused with one foot in the air when you’re leaning forward needing to put your foot down. I get the need for anticipation, this just felt awkward. At a few points in the story.

Finished the story, liked the intrigue of it. Not sure if I will continue this series. The pacing of the story was tedious in certain places.
The spice scenes were dragged out in some parts, disturbing the flow.
The info dumps were overlong even when needed. Seemed like a person walking and holding a foot in the air just before it needs to be placed down. Weird but that’s what it felt like.
